BIOGAS
From the environmental point of view, intensively managed husbandry systems can cause significant undesirable impact. Intensive farming leads to undisputed socio-economic achievements, but also creates an increased production of waste per square metre, which can have environmental repercussions in terms of pollution caused by the residues generated.
Industrial waste: Is it a problem or can it be converted into a business opportunity?
The generation and use of biogas as a renewable energy source, creates a win-win situation because not only does it resolve an environmental issue by reusing organic matter, but it also represents an economic saving for the farm as it becomes a self sufficient source of electricity and heat.
In addition, as a byproduct of cogeneration, the process provides residual slurry that can be used as a rapidly produced high quality bio fertilizer, thus contributing to the preservation and maintenance of soil fertility.
